We did a bit of traveling this summer, and took a bit of time off to boot. We’re starting back up, and construction (so far) seems to be moving quicker than demolition did. We have two coats of BusKote on the roof, and will be adding a final third coat. It’s pretty cool stuff.
We started cutting and fitting insulation in the wall. We’re using 2″ of polyiso insulation, coming out to roughly R12 in our walls. We’re sealing the cracks with spray foam.

Why did you decide to go with foam board instead of the fiberglass stuff that was in the walls? Are you keeping the paint on the sides? Are you going to remove the veggie system for good, or just make it less leaky?
John says
Foam board gives me a higher R value per inch. The 2″ fiberglass batting that had been in the walls was approximately R7. We’re now at R12/13. Some bus conversions have sprayed closed cell polyiso for insulation, and if I had the money for it, it’s totally ideal. Next time, maybe.
The veggie system is coming back, better than ever. It’s also, unfortunately, the lowest priority, since it’s not necessary for living in the bus. I’ve learned all of the veggie lessons the hard way, and I intend to do it right.
